Reflections on 2016

  • Thank you for your continued support through 2016. Over the year, we have had many letters and cards from teachers and students telling us of mathematical success and student engagement. These stories are an important part of what motivates us to keep working with you all.

Also, we have received exciting reports of improvements in NAPLAN and PATM test results. The effect of running a Natural Maths approach, starting the lesson with a mental routine, following up with a problematised situation or strategy lesson and making time for a reflection at the end, is paying dividends both in terms of achievement and engagement. It has been heart-warming to hear these tales of success.

By request, Ann is offering two holiday workshops at the Education Development Centre, Hindmarsh:

January 16th, 2017, is an Introduction to Natural Maths and will suit new teachers, relief teachers as well as anyone who has missed previous workshops that on the Natural Maths approach.

January 19th, 2017, is the Early Years (R – 2) Number Sense workshop. Teachers who attended this one last January were thrilled with the great foundation that their students have developed. In particular, the teachers have really raised the bar in terms of the expectations they have for numeracy achievement and the students are reacting well to being asked to to more!
