The Natural Maths Strategies series is based on the
application of three-part lessons in the maths classroom. Starting with mental
routines that engage students and arouse their enthusiasm for a topic, the main
body of the lesson is taken up with a problematised situation which is
open-ended and real-life. The lesson concludes with a 10 minute reflection to
allow the teacher to focus on successful strategies used and to formalise them.
Examples of these processes are given below.
Each book in the series is accompanied by an Assessment
Guide that shows how the problematised situations in the books can be turned
into assessment tools.
