Maths Strategies:
publications by Ann and Johnny Baker

It is now five years since we began our association with Blake Education. During that time we have seen the publication by them of three main series of books all of which have a strong Maths Strategies emphasis.

The publications are:

Natural Maths Strategies - a 5-book series for primary schools that is based on the numeracy block teaching method. The books have ideas for mental routines, problematised situations and reflection that are key to the Numeracy Block approach.

Strategic Maths - Number - a 7-book series with accompanying CDs for use with the IWB that develops number skills in a rigorous and complete manner. This series has been followed up by our own publication of  the Linear Measurement Series.

Accompanying the Natural Maths Strategies series, there are the Assessment Guides that give suggestions for making informed decisions about student progress and the Mental Computation books (Lower and Middle) that include a set of 18 posters that summarize the key mental computation strategies.

More recently, we have written the View and Do Maths Investigation series with video introductions to problem-solving scenarios
