Natural Maths Strategy Posters
& Mental Computation: Using Natural Maths Strategies

Modern maths syllabuses move closer and closer a formal recognition of the central role that 'in the mind' strategies have in the learning of maths. While electronic tills and computers replace the need for formal calculations, the need for ability with mental maths strategies grows all the more important.

With this in mind, it was decided to create a series of posters that could foster the development of a range of strategies. Currently, there are two Poster Packs that are now available. These are:

Lower Primary Middle Primary

The poster packs are accompanied by Mental Computation books that suggest activities and investigations that allow the students to show their own understanding of the strategies and to develop confidence in using strategies to solve arithmetical problems.

Owing to the size of the posters (A0), we are unable to supply these, but you can obtain them by going to the Blake website and placing an order there. The Mental Computation books can also be purchased from Blake or they are available from us too.
