Hey Diddle Diddle

I was in Berserker for the student free day on July 12th and the very next day a year one teacher decided to have a go at inventing her own problematised situation. Since Nursery Rhymes were topical in her room she asked the children the following question.

"There seem to be an awful lot of legs in that rhyme. How many legs do you think there are?"

She was delighted with the range of interpretations and methods of solving this problem and the discussion that it engendered. There were differences in the number of legs ascribed to the objects (we all know that a stool can have 3 or 4 legs) and to which objects legs were given. Careful reflection had to be undertaken to check the possibilities.

What a fabulous first problematised situation. Don't forget we can share your successes on this site. Let's get the community thing going!
