About Preventing the Numeracy Gap in the Early Years (3rd Oct 2018):
A new workshop with Ann Baker
For the last year Ann has been writing and trialling her 'Prevent the Numeracy gap' initiative with schools.
The focus is on catching students early enough to prevent the widening of the numeracy gap. There is mounting evidence that the sooner we identify and immerse students in and enrich their numeracy the more long term impact we can make.
Ann had developed a 'prevention' scaffold for the early years (Preschool, Foundation, Year 1, although older students can also benefit if they’re struggling to develop numeracy skills).
As always Ann will present practical, classroom based ideas including :
observation guides and strategies
hands on activities
current research and best practice.

At Natural Maths its our belief that students should have tools to support their learning right where they need them - on their desk.
It's easy to focus on creating, naming and extending patterns but deep understanding requires a problem solving approach as presented in this software.
This versatile, multileveled interactive tool can be used to extend thinking from grade two to grade ten. It moves smoothly into algebraic expressions at the higher levels.
This bundle includes the Subitizing Laying the Foundations for Number Sense book and a class set of matched regular dot and number cards.
In this Natural Maths course, with Ann Baker, get a range of practical ideas, backed by research, and walks you through the steps you’ll need to take to ensure you are doing the best you possibly can to ensure your students are off to a life of numerosity.
