Most schools have collections of blocks: wooden ones, Unifix, MABs, tiles, etc., and these blocks have a lot of potential for hands-on activities, games and investigations. We have found that students respond really well to the mathematical thinking that is required by the activities we created around blocks.
The Level 3 book includes activities about fractions and decimals that encourages students to develop a strong number sense. There are also measurement and estimation activities. You can get a feel for the activities by downloading a sample from the book which shows a use of blocks at this level.
The activities in this book support the teaching of the ACM for Year 3.
